Zurich Ref 801
If the world is flat (as a dial), then Zürich is its center. This striking automatic watch was designed by the Swiss industrial designer Hannes Wettstein for NOMOS Glashütte and has received multiple awards. With a slender bezel, an excitingly complex case, and a white silver-plated dial, it has long been a classic.
Zürich’s indexes are applied by hand. The hands also require a great deal of effort to produce—they are facetted (so feature angular polishing) and rhodium-plated.
The elegant lugs feature a slight inward curve. And did you notice? The lug and bezel have a small space between them—which presents the case like a set diamond.
A tapered form that leads from the case to the crown—which is the crowning glory of this watch. Where else will you find such exquisitely formed grooves?
